Congresswoman Lauren Underwood was part of the Blue Wave in 2018 being elected to the Illinois’ 14th Congressional District, Republican Speaker Hastert’s old district. She is the first woman, the first person of color, and the first millennial to represent her community in Congress. She is also the youngest African American woman to serve in the United States House of Representatives. She is also a nurse and was a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), helping communities across the country prevent, prepare for, and respond to disasters and public health emergencies. In Congress, she has been a leader on health policy, climate change and stopping gun violence. In this time in particular, we need to keep this talented nurse in the U.S. Congress!
