ONLINE – BootCamp2020: Slack 101
August 5, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Welcome to BootCamp2020, Lean Left’s jumping off point for Election 2020!
This election will be like no other, and it’s going to take all of us working hard to make sure voters in key states are able to exercise their right to vote—safely! Voting laws are changing quickly and deadlines for voter registration/vote-by-mail applications will be here before you know it; plus Democratic candidates need to lay the foundation for a final Get-Out-The-Vote push in October by identifying supporters, recruiting volunteers, and raising funds now. The earlier we get started, the more we’ll power that blue wave in November!
Slack is a communication app used by many organizations as “virtual headquarters” — it’s where information-sharing, collaboration, training and support happens! Being comfortable with Slack will make it easier for you plug in to lots of actions, but it is crucial if you want to do peer-to-peer texting (aka textbanking) — the vast majority of texting groups work on Slack, and there’s no way to volunteer with them without joining and using their Slack workspace. In this webinar, we’ll go over some slides explaining the basics of Slack and how it works, do some live demonstration of navigating Slack workspaces and channels (with a focus on texting groups), and answer your questions.
